If you are interested in acquiring this painting or would like further information please contact me Lions in the Serengeti often frequent the ancient granite outcrops called  Kopje’s [pronounced Kopyer].  These Kopje’s are like small ecosystems where a variety of animal species are born and live their entire lives in and around these rocky domains.  Each Kopje has it’s own colonies of Baboons, Hyrax and other prey species that attract predators such as Lions, Leopards and Eagles.  I have portrayed this magnificent Lion in the prime of his life, sitting unobserved amongst the rocks on a Kopje close to Seronera lodge in the Serengeti National Park. He sits there observing his subjects and his kingdom like the King that he is.  He will probably relax there most of the day, and at dusk, will disappear off into the night to wreak havoc among the local inhabitants.  African Monarch Link to Us Privacy Photo Gallery Guestbook 14"x20” -  36x51cm Acrylic on Canvas All content and artwork copyright to Stephen Gayford and may not be reproduced without permission © 2007 - 2011
