Indian Tigers adore water, and they are very powerful
swimmers and along with the Jaguar from South
America are quite at home in the water. They are
powerful swimmers and can easily cross rivers 6-8 kms
wide and have even been known to swim distances of
up to 29 km to offshore islands.
In an Indian summer, temperatures can soar to well
over 100F degrees for weeks on end. The Tiger can
spend the whole day beside a water hole or lake, not
only to regularly quench it’s thirst but also as a means
of cooling off from the effects of the scorching heat.
They blend seamlessly with the grasses and rocks
beside the water, this ability makes the other animals
very tense when they come to slake their thirst.
